    Strategic Portfolio Management (TM010)

SynopsisSuccessful companies have two elements that their competitors either do not have, or if they do, does not do a good job in managing them. These two elements are strategy and execution.

This two-day class is an introduction on how to create a strategic portfolio of products and how to manage it in order to win in an enduring way in the markets you have selected. This class will take you through the process of providing the scope of your products and offer you tools to systematically segment them so that you can set strategies and manage them in the most effective way.

It is quite normal that companies have a diverse spectrum of products to serve different market needs. Building and managing successful portfolios that create value should not be an intuitive and opportunistic exercise. Successful companies have well thought out product portfolios with systematic tools to continually improve on them. We will introduce to you a number of new management tools that will enable you to map what your business is about and how you should take advantage of your core competencies to build lasting value.

Finally, we will cover the very important topic of a winning company culture. We can have the best portfolio in the world today, but without the right culture, the competitive advantage we have today will be gradually eroded. The last part of this class goes through the methods top companies use to manage a world class culture that is capable of producing world class products in an enduring way.
